Where is Whidbey Millhouse? Information about Whidbey Island
Whidbey Island is approximately about 37 miles long and 1.5 to 10 miles (2.4 to 16.1 km) wide, with a total land area of 168.67 square miles. Located in Puget Sound region of Washington State in Island County. Vancouver Island and the Olympic Mountain range are visible off the western shore, Camano Island, Hat Island and Cascade Mountains off the eastern.
The North End:
The largest city is Oak Harbor on the north end of the island with a population of approx. 23,000 people. Located in Oak Harbor is NAS Whidbey, proud home of all Navy tactical electronic attack squadrons flying the EA-18G Growler.
The South End:
29 miles to the south is a slower paced community locals refer to as "the south end". The area is quiet and sparsely populated with a high percentage of small farms, tourist amenities, high-end waterfront homes and vacation rentals. There are 3 small towns ranging from 950 people to the largest (Freeland) with approx. 2,050. The south end is a 15-20 minute ferry ride from “town” which is a generic label used by locals to describe anyplace not Whidbey.
